Loco Works update

Adam's blog from last weekend.
Lady A has been shunted out of the loco works paint shop, and moved to the Engine House where it will now reside, ready for Great Western Pannier Tank 7714 to be removed from the Engine House to be overhauled in due course.

On Saturday a loco swap took place involving Great Western small Prairie no 4566 from Bridgnorth changing with Bewdley service engine 5164 ready for valve repairs to be carried out.

Currently inside the shed, loco no 6634's cab roof is quickly progressing with a clear representation of what will be the final structure now in view. This past weekend, additional side panels were being machined ready for fitting to the roof body.

Great Western loco no 7802 Bradley Manor is undergoing work on its vacuum brake, following its visit on the new wheeldrop a couple of weeks back, where the wheel sets were taken out and cleaned up. The loco has since come off the wheeldrop and begun maintenance works.

The big focus at the moment is Great Western loco no 2857 Churchward class 2-8-0, which is being prepared to reunite with its wheels, which are now painted and ready to be fitted up; this may well be taking place this week.

Also during the past weekend, 2857's boiler was lit up again for testing, following the locomotive's smokebox being re-attached. Hopefully before much longer, the boiler will have its official boiler test, ready to be lifted onto the frames.
