August in the Wailing Wall - wk 1

Catch up time ... a month's worth of work in the WWCC - first week
reported 7 August
Today we completed the two coats of Fenceguard on the latest waste bin surrounds, courtesy of Geoff (The Aircraft). These have now been immediately pressed into service, one next to the picnic tables at the station buffet, and the other next to the south side of the footbridge on platform 1.
Colin (The Fireman) has removed the brick flooring in the end room store, prior to laying a dpc and a concrete screed to level the floor, in order that this room can revert to commercial use.
We also made a start at preparing the timber towards the construction of the final four waste bin surrounds; we are hopeful that this mammoth task will be completed in about two more weeks.
And Peter (The Painter) has finally started to top coat the new window we fitted in the booking office entrance some months ago.

Today I have to report that the WW came to the rescue of a damsel in serious distress. It transpires that a certain lady booking clerk, who shall be and remain nameless, managed to insert the wrong key into the newly replaced booking office door, when I say newly, I mean not two hours before. Suffice to say all's well that ended well, and least said soonest mended.
Elsewhere on the estate, the WWCC has completed the laying of a new concrete floor in the end room store. Firstly the old brick floor was completely removed, then the oversite was blinded in with sharp sand, and a damp proof membrane was then laid, which was finally covered in a smooth finished concrete screed.
Those involved today were Colin (The Fireman) on the shovel and trowel, Alan (Severn Trent) on the mixer and wheelbarrow, and Adam (The Boy) was heavily involved in many trips with the wheelbarrow, to and from our cattle dock compound. At this stage we will not mention his little mishap turning the mixer.
Naturally someone had to be there in a supervisory capacity, and I guess that would have been yours truly, living up to the mantra of 'we don't do perfect', except in this case we excelled ourselves as you will see when the new floor is officially opened on Saturday. (As they said in the sixties, 'be there or be square').
